As many people already know, director Quentin Tarantino did not originally have Jamie Foxx in his mind when he wrote down Django’s character for his box office hit Django Unchained.  He actually had Will Smith in his mind!  However, it caused surprise when it was announced that Jamie Foxx would be taking the role of Django, after Will Smith turned down this role.  Now, why would anyone ever turn down a role offered by Quentin Tarantino himself?  Apparently, it was just not enough for Will Smith.  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Will said, “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead.”  The star of big hits such as the Men In Black trilogy also was quoted stating, “The other character was the lead! I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!'”  He was, of course, referring to Dr. King Schultz, played by Christoph Waltz, who ended up winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the most recent Oscars.   When asked his opinion of the movie, he simply responded “Brilliant… Just not for me.”

Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Leonardo DiCaprio, has been the highest grossingDjango_Unchained_22 Tarantino movie up-to-date, with over $410 million worldwide.  It was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, of which it won the second one.

Will Smith is at the moment promoting his new science fiction movie, After Earth, in which he will star alongside his son, Jaden Smith.

Do you think Will Smith missed out on the opportunity of his career by turning down this role?  Would he have been a better Django than Jamie Foxx?  Leave your opinions below!

It’s finally here! The trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has finally hit the web.  The sequel to the 2010 hit Kick-Ass, Kick-Ass 2 will bring back Aaron Johnson as Kick-Ass, Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as the villain, Red Mist (name that apparently changes when you see the trailer), avenging his father’s death.  In addition, Jim Carrey will be playing Colonel Stars.  Watch the Redband Trailer now!

What do you think of the trailer?  Will this movie be better than the first one?

kristen wiigBack in February, it was confirmed that Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig would be joining Will Ferrell in one of the most awaited sequels of 2013, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, as Steven Carrell’s Brick’s love interest.  Now, everything points out that she might be joining Will Ferrell again in director Adam McKay‘s indie film Welcome To Me!  This movie is set to be directed by McKay’s wife, Shira Piven, and will follow a woman with multiple personalities who wins the lottery and spends the money to start her own TV show.  Right off the top of my head, I could not think of any other actress who can pull this out better than Kristen Wiig (maybe Melissa McCarthy?).

Kristen Wiig has become one of the most famous female comedians in recent years.  She has had roles in hits like BridesmaidsHow to Train Your Dragon, and Despicable Me, and is signed for the sequels of the last two movies mentioned.  Given her past as an Saturday Night Live cast member, she is one of the most desired actresses for comedy movies.  It’s no wonder Gary Sanchez Productions wants her for their new indie film!   Stay tuned for more news on this movie!

What do you think?  Is she the right fit for Welcome To Me?
